The Mirror’s YouTube channel has hit 100,000 subscribers, a big milestone part of the team’s strategy to drive audience and revenue growth.

Yara Silva, Head of Social for our nationals, says: “We’ve been working hard to establish the Mirror as a must-watch YouTube destination, with comprehensive coverage of major breaking news events in recent weeks, including the war in Ukraine and the wildfires on the Greek islands.

“A couple of individual videos have racked up over 1 million views on their own, with the channel hitting 9.6million views last month.”

The channel, spearheaded by YouTube Producer Rikki Wallace, has seen great success with its daily video series The Know, which has brought in over 1.3 million views since its launch. Its regular series The Facts has also nearly hit 1 million views since launching.

Ben Rankin, National Audience Director, says: “This is a great effort from our video team as we ramp up our search for the audiences of tomorrow. We need new – and younger – ‘eyeballs’ on key platforms like YouTube and while it doesn’t fix the page view challenges we’re currently facing – and battling hard to solve – it’s an investment in the future of our brands.”
