We are proud to have launched the Represent the 24% survey across all our UK sites, to find out what our audience thinks of disability representation in the media.

Throughout the Paralympics, we’re looking for audience opinions on how society views and treats disabled people, how they’re represented in the media, and what sort of content they think our titles should and should not be doing.

This survey demonstrates our ongoing commitment to drive forward disability inclusion in our business and our content, following on from our Represent the 24% initiative in print. We’re also part of the Valuable 500, a global business partnership of 500 companies working together to end disability exclusion.

Simon Pitney, Agency Lead at Reach said: “Our ‘Represent the 24%’ survey marks another step forward in our efforts to accurately reflect under-represented communities across the U.K. Initially conceived as part of our Generation Valuable commitments and incorporated into our Belonging Project initiative, this survey has been the product of collaboration across the business.

The central premise is that it’s vital for our content to reach, and resonate with the communities that we serve – disabled people make up 24% of the population and thus it’s imperative that our content whether about them, by them or supporting them, is useful and relevant. The hope is that taking real insight from our audience we will be better equipped and more knowledgeable in how to meet our aims.”
