It was touted as the ‘first TikTok election’ and we’re proud to announce that Mirror Politics posted the TikTok with the most views during the election period.

Through Reach Studio, we are creating and publishing award-winning social and video content through our brands. During the 2024 UK General Election period, the Mirror Politics TikTok channel gained a staggering 26 million views and has a total following of 164K+.

Gully Burrows, Head of Social Creative, said, “Following the General Election announcement, we found a young child had asked Rishi Sunak what he orders from Nandos. I knew this video would massively resonate with our Mirror Politics TikTok audience, and it did! It quickly became the most-watched political TikTok video throughout the 45 day campaign.

The video was watched by more than 6.1 million people and helped increase our follower account by 23K during those 45 days. We were also the most-watched, solely UK based, political account on TikTok over the election campaign, with our content being viewed over 46 million times.

Mirror Politics takes a light-hearted look at politics in the UK from a centre left perspective. The Mirror has, unashamedly, been the main Labour supporting tabloid for many years and we look to continue that tradition on TikTok, but we will also lightheartedly poke fun at the Labour party if it is necessary.”

The social video posted by Mirror Politics was just 11 seconds long and revealed the former Prime Minister’s go-to Nando’s order.

Reach Studio launches a combined team of “audiovisual excellence” working across editorial and commercial.

Meet the senior team leading our newly created Reach Studio. The Reach Studio team is unique in the industry in being a fully blended editorial and commercial team, serving multimedia content both to audiences and advertising partners.

Led by Mark Field, Director of Studio, the senior team also includes:

  • Yara Silva, Head of Content, leading ideation and creation of all audio and video content across the group, from editorial, to branded content and podcasts. Yara was previously Group Head of Social Media for Reach’s National titles, working in the newsroom.
  • Harrie Dumenil, Head of Production and Delivery, leading on processes and ensuring the successful delivery of content across Reach. Harrie has worked both agency and publisher-side, with previous roles at the Telegraph and PHD Media.
  • Michelle Linaker, Head of Events, leading on Pride of Britain and Pride of Scotland Awards. Michelle has previously worked on a broad range of events from festivals, Madonna’s live tour to the Empire film awards.
  • Spencer Rowbotham, Head of Design, leading all creative design and art direction across the group. Spencer has a range of experience across video, digital and print platforms through multi-format commercial campaigns and supporting our marketing, partnerships and corporate teams.

The team will continue to be geographically diverse but will make use of several of Reach’s hubs, including London Canary Wharf, Manchester and Birmingham.
